I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.

It’s the small details in which you realise that the hotel had just opened: Lobby Lounge @ Courtyard Siem Reap Resort (4. January 2024)

As a final act of the day, it was time to enjoy a “Bloody Mary” (USD 7.00) in the Lobby Lounge in the Courtyard Siem Reap Resort – and that is when you realise that the hotel had only just opened a few days ago. It seems nobody had ordered a Bloody Mary before, since […]

When expectations are completely missed and prices are way too high: Restaurant Malis (4. January 2024)

The Malis looked like a truly fancy place from the outside, and a bit different from most of the places we had tried in Siem Reap. So, as a goodbye dinner, we figured, this might be a good option. The place is lovely in terms of interior design and they kind of really try to […]

Not necessarily a place to return to for drinks: Silk Garden Bar & Restaurant (4. January 2024)

On the quest for the best cocktail, we ended up in places, we hadn’t expected, like the Silk Garden Bar & Restaurant. Again, heads-up, you need to pay by cash, and the change is given in KKP instead of USD, so, you might want to take that into account when going here (even if it […]

A great signature cocktail in a busy side street: Harry‘s Cocktail Bar (4. January 2023)

A great signature cocktail in a busy side street: Harry‘s Cocktail Bar (4. January 2023)

Next in line was Harry’s Cocktail Bar a few blocks down the road – and while the place only looked limitedly like a cocktail bar, the selection was slightly bigger than in the previous place. And the “Harry’s Sling (gin, dom, cranberry, lime, cherry brandy, passion)” (USD 5.75), apparently, their signature cocktail, was quite enjoyable. […]

A good start on the quest to find the perfect cocktail: Endora Restaurant & Wine Bar (4. January 2024)

On the quest to find amazing cocktails and cocktail bars, we ended up trying a few different ones like the “Endora Restaurant & Wine Bar”, which claimed to also have an amazing selection of cocktails. Well, I would rather say the selection of cocktails was limited, but I did enjoy the “Blue Lagoon (vodka, Cointreau, […]

While the temples are worth visiting, the restaurant isn’t really: Restaurant Rom Chong Angkor (4. January 2024)

Another day visiting the lesser known temples around Siem Reap like Beng Mealea and Banteay Srei is definitely worth when you’re in Cambodia. The temples are lovely, and they are definitely worth visiting – sure, not as impressive as Angkor Wat, but still on the must-do list! Between temples, it was time for another lunch […]

Exceptional service and tasty stuffed frog: Restaurant Sokkhak River (3. January 2024)

The Sokkhak River was recommended by the hotel, hence, we figured why not give it a try! The “pounded chicken breast with red tree ants (chicken breast, red tree ants, galangal, garlic, shallots, dried shrimp, herbs, peanuts and vegetable crudités)” (USD 7.80) was overall okay, but the greens on the side were a bit surprising […]

Nice bar for a pre-dinner visit: Miss Wong Cocktail Bar (3. January 2024)

There are quite a few bars close to the river in Siem Reap, and the Miss Wong was recommended to us by the tour guide, hence, we gave it a try. The “Spiced Bloody Mary (Kampot green-peppercorn and chili infused Vodka, Tabasco, tomato juice, and fresh Oriental celery leaves)” (USD 7.00) definitely left a good […]
