I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.

Interesting concept to assemble your dinner with small plates: Restaurant Josef (11. August 2020)

The concept of the Restaurant Josef is in thus far interesting as you get to pick from a variety of relatively small dishes – and the idea is to take three to five which allows you to try quite a couple of different flavour combinations in the same seating. As a starter I went for […]

Good lunch offering but not really when you’re in a hurry: Restaurant Saku (11. August 2020)

Good lunch offering but not really when you’re in a hurry: Restaurant Saku (11. August 2020)

The Saku offers quite a good bargain for lunch – for CHF 28.00 only you get a small “sushi” as a starter which is rather simple but nice to get your palate started. But you don’t only get some sushi, but you also can also pick 0.5L lemonade. The ‘Yuzu lemonade’ I went for was […]

Perfect for a decent and swift lunch meal: Restaurant Brasserie Federal (28. July 2020)

What I like about the Brasserie Federal is the fact that they serve hearty Swiss dishes quite quickly and make sure you won’t spend hours and hours waiting for your dish. When I sat down, it took a bit until a waiter showed up, but once he realised I was there, everything went quite quickly. […]

A place where you wouldn’t expect to find a lovely garden: Restaurant Sternen Albisrieden (22. July 2020)

Although I have driven by the Sternen Albisrieden more than 100 times over the past few years, it never crossed my mind to get in there and have a meal. Luckily, a friend of mine suggested having lunch here and it was a surprisingly good decision. I went for the “veal cordon bleu (stuffed with […]

Traditional restaurant with decent food: Restaurant Schweizerheim (21. July 2020)

The Schweizerheim is frankly not a place I would have walked into, but as my sister recommended it, I figured, it’s worth giving a try. And I must admit that it is actually absolutely enjoyable. The place is relatively simple and the location isn’t the best as it is next to the main road but […]

When the kitchen is definitely way too slow: Restaurant terrasse (21. July 2020)

What I like about the terrasse is the fact that you get to sit outside – what I don’t like about the terrasse is the fact that the service is very slow especially during lunchtime which is really quite annoying. I decided to go for the “veal tartar (veal tartare, celery, herb salad, estragon crème […]

Simple and honest but delicious Catalonian dishes: Restaurant L’Antic Bocoi del Gòtic (18. July 2020)

It is surprisingly difficult to find a place to eat after 11pm in Barcelona (at least in COVID-19) times – luckily, there are still a few places open and the L’Antic Bocoi del Gòtic is one of them. I called around 10:30pm to identify if it was still possible to get something, respectively if the […]

Delicious ice cream by Jordi Roca: Rocambolesc Barcelona (18. July 2020)

When I was last in Barcelona, I discovered the Rocambolesc and it was a very pleasant experience. Therefore, I decided to pay this place another visit and it was a good idea. The concept is rather simple. You pick how you want your icecream served, then you pick which ice cream flavors (there are only […]
