I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.

A surprisingly good steak house in St. Gallen: Restaurant Al Capone (1. September 2019)

A surprisingly good steak house in St. Gallen: Restaurant Al Capone (1. September 2019)

The cool thing about St. Gallen is its price level. I keep forgetting that the same thing in St. Gallen costs about 2/3 of what it would cost in Zurich. When reading that there was a starter caesar salad for CHF 10.80, I thought it was going to be tiny. It wasn’t! The “caesar salad […]

As efficient and as nice as always: Restaurant Mamma Assunta (27. August 2019)

As efficient and as nice as always: Restaurant Mamma Assunta (27. August 2019)

The “tortellini in brodo” (CHF 13.00) is a good portion in terms of size and the tortellini are good in taste. The broth itself is rather bland but still not bad to eat. The “Insalata Caprese” (CHF 15.00) is a good portion and actually has a nice equal distribution of mozzarella and tomatoes which is […]

Delicious lunch offering but overwhelmed service: Restaurant Ruben’s Bistro (26. August 2019)

The “pippilotti salad” has a quite nice combination of flavors and ingredients like avocado, goat cheese, and different types of salad. So, all in all it is a very enjoyable dish but there is one thing which makes me not understand their concept. It took them a solid 25 minutes to prepare that. I get […]

Strong advertisement which does not fit reality: Restaurant La Scala (25. August 2019)

The Restaurant La Scala is a nice place where you have a partial view onto Lake Zurich. However, it’s ‘sold’ way better online than it actually is. The view isn’t as breath-taking and if you don’t have a front row seat you don’t really stand a chance anyways to see much. However, the service is […]

Trying out a nice 2 Michelin star restaurant before it closes end of year: Restaurant Lampart’s (24. August 2019)

Trying out a nice 2 Michelin star restaurant before it closes end of year: Restaurant Lampart’s (24. August 2019)

Since I had recently read that the Lampart’s will close end of year, it became a goal to pay the Lampart’s a visit. What I experienced upfront was friendliness as my original request was a bit tricky, yet, they were able to accommodate the request easily. Once you then arrive there, you are greeted by […]

High continuity in terms of bad service: Restaurant Schiller (23. August 2019)

High continuity in terms of bad service: Restaurant Schiller (23. August 2019)

I went for the lunch offering with the “spicy tomato soup” as a starter which was absolutely okay and even nicely spicy like you would want it to be. However, the main course was a massive disappointment – the “caesar salad with bacon, croutons and chicken stripes” (CHF 25.00) was just not really appealing. It […]

Perfect for a swift Italian lunch: Restaurant Il Brigante (22. August 2019)

What I like about the Il Brigante is the speed of service for lunch. As soon as you’re seated, the waitress shows up and takes up your order. The menu salad has a nice variety of ingredients and is – frankly – drenched in salad sauce (which is a definitely over the top). The “pizza […]

Still remains an excellent place for Greek food and wine: Restaurant Yamas (21. August 2019)

It is about three years ago since I’ve paid my last visit to Yamas. I used to frequent the place almost on a weekly basis when working in its vicinity. Somehow, since then I haven’t managed to go there but I figured it would be a good location for an evening with friends and wine. […]
