I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.

An amazing view, but a mediocre breakfast experience: Restaurant @ Clouds Estate (7. December 2023)

Staying at the Clouds Estate is generally speaking a good idea as you have nice villas for a relatively fair price, and you have a lovely view over the whole valley – so, worth doing so. Now, if you want to enjoy breakfast here, then it is not entirely the same. Sure, they offer a […]

A surprising black out in the estate of one of the biggest diamond traders globally: Restaurant Delaire Graff (6. December 2023)

The Delaire Graff estate is the hobby of the world famous diamond trader Graff, and you can feel and see that the place comes from proper money as it’s artsy and very appealing at the same time. I had booked for 7pm, but arrived 6pm, so it was time to relax with a glass of […]

Definitely one of my favourite wine estates during this trip: Wine Tasting @ Waterford Estate (6. December 2023)

Given the Waterford Estate is on the way from Hermanus to Stellenboesch, it is the perfect pit stop to try “The Cellar Collection” (395 ZAR) and to me, this was the best wine tasting I have had while being in South Africa – mainly, I suppose, because they focus on red wine and not on […]

A lovely location for breakfast with a decent buffet: Restaurant Pavilion @ The Marine Hotel (6. December 2023)

A lovely location for breakfast with a decent buffet: Restaurant Pavilion @ The Marine Hotel (6. December 2023)

The Pavilion is also the location to get breakfast when staying at The Marine Hotel, and the breakfast (usually 265 ZAR) is definitely one worth trying when you’re staying here. It has a generous buffet, which kind of has everything you would need and want. On top of that, they also do rather tasty “eggs […]

A decent location to enjoy the view of the sea shore: Restaurant Pavilion @ The Marine Hotel (5. December 2023)

The Marine Hotel is definitely what one would call a Grand Hotel – located right next to the sea shore and with a view to see the whales (if they are around), this place is very lovely in terms of design. Sure, it is a ‘grande dame’, but this doesn’t make it any less appealing […]

Delicious food, but a tiny bit too slow service on a marvellous estate: Food & Wine Tasting @ Creation Wines (5. December 2023)

Delicious food, but a tiny bit too slow service on a marvellous estate: Food & Wine Tasting @ Creation Wines (5. December 2023)

The Creation Wines estate was recommended to me by a friend, so I decided to give it a try. And I must say, if you are not planning ahead and check the roads on Google Maps, it will take you through a very bumpy dirt road where you are wondering if you will ever arrive. […]

Decent breakfast, but nothing, which leaves you longing to return: Restaurant The Hussar Grill @ Protea by Marriott Hotel Franschhoek (5. December 2023)

Decent breakfast, but nothing, which leaves you longing to return: Restaurant The Hussar Grill @ Protea by Marriott Hotel Franschhoek (5. December 2023)

The breakfast offering at The Hussar Grill is simple, but you find everything you need to start your day – however, for a Marriott hotel, I find the selection a bit limited. The place is really just their regular steakhouse restaurant and has the respective atmosphere – which is lovely for a steakhouse, but less […]

The little sister of the La Colombe – worth visiting when in Franschhoek: Restaurant Protégé (4. December 2023)

The little sister of the La Colombe – worth visiting when in Franschhoek: Restaurant Protégé (4. December 2023)

The Protégé is part of the same group as the La Colombe and, hence, was my choice for dinner in Franschhoek. I started with a drink of “Elderflower, Lavender Gin, Martini” (120 ZAR) and while it was definitely super sweet and sticky, it was also delicious (and strong on the booze side). What I found […]
