22. March 2013: Restaurant Gasthaus Bauernhof
The Restaurant Gasthaus Bauernhof is a hidden gem in Zug – the restaurant – as the name already let one assume so – is a former farmer’s house and the inside is like a modernised farmer’s house. The interior is held entirely in bright wood, white covers, and an amazing view in a peasant landscape. But not onle the place itself is nice, the food is good. I went for the “beef filet medaillon with gorgon-chili-sauce, leaf spinach and parmesan gnocchi” (CHF 46.00) and it was great. The meat was perfectly textured, the sauce was rich, the spinach fresh and the gnocchi absolutely yummy.
The only thing which was a bit surprising was the fact that the dish was brought to our table within only ten minutes which seems pretty quick – still, the food was good. The prices are adequate for the overall service but not really low. The beverages on the other hand are perfectly fine price-wise. A bottle of water (0,75L) accounts for CHF 5.50 and a double espresso for CHF 6.50.
Our waiters were friendly, helpful, patient and did an excellent job overall. All in all, I can absolutely recommend the Restaurant Gasthaus Bauernhof – lovely place, good dishes, fair prices, and good service.
