5. April 2013: Restaurant Emma Metzler
Amazing lunch offer – truly outstanding! Already the bread with caraway was rich and a good start for this lunch. But right after the order was placed, the amouse bouche which was served …
… a “mousse of wolffish, lentils and sprout salad” which was creamy and rich in taste. Great start for a lunch!
I decided to have the “Land” menu (EUR 24.50 for three courses) and started with a “pearl barley soup with tête de moine”. The soup was relatively similar to a “Grison barley soup” but had an intense flavour. When adding the parmesan cheese it became even tastier.
The “breast of a ‘black feathered chicken with kohlrabi and gnocchi” had a nice crispy and spicy crust but the actual chicken was still somewhat juicy and therefore pretty yummy. The chicken did not even need sauce to be tasty – just great. The kohlrabi and the gnocchi made it a perfectly round dish altogether.
The “raspberry mousse with white mocca icecream” was dream-like. The mousse was mouth-watering, smooth and aromatic. The icecream was very rich and even the little basket was delicious.
Overall, the dishes were definitely outstanding and if you consider the price you pay then they are actually even better. The prices for the beverages are fair too (Rhön Sprudel 0,75L, EUR 7.50; double espresso, EUR 4.00). The place itself is pretty nice – located in the Museum für Angewandte Kunst (mak) – spacious, glass front, just very appealing and modern. The service is very friendly and competent.
I can absolutely and totally recommend the Restaurant Emma Metzler – great food, very fair prices, nice location and great service!
