12. April 2013: Restaurant Lindenhofkeller
The “Swiss ‘Prime’ saddle of veal simmered in the oven, served with herb butter” (CHF 49.50) is truly mouth-watering. The texture of the meat is perfect, slightly pink inside, soft and tender, very aromatic and a fine crispiness of the outer layer of meat. And it matches perfectly with the heaven-like liquid herb butter in which the meat is served. Madly good!
The saffron risotto (CHF 6.50) as a side dish was almost equally tasty – a slight note of saffron and perfectly slightly crunchy rice corns – delicious. The chocolates and cookies served with the coffee were tasty too – especially the white chocolate with crystallized fruit.
The prices are very fair for what you get – for the dishes as well as for the beverages (CHF 5.90 for an espresso, CHF 9.80 for 8DL of Goba water). The restaurant is neatly furnished and decorated, a perfect balance between modern and traditional. The service is mostly very good – the waiter was a bit too talkative for my gusto and we had to ask twice for the bill, but other than that, definitely great service. All in all, I can highly recommend the Restaurant Lindenhofkeller and their specialty, the “Swiss prime saddle of veal” – breathtakingly delicious!
