The Supersizers …

| April 27, 2013 | 0 Comments

“The Supersizers …” is a BBC Two series starring Giles Coren, restaurant critic, and Sue Perkins, broadcaster and comedian. The idea of the series is that both “travel back in time” for one week and live and especially eat according to the habits in the time they choose to go back to. The series is very interesting as you get to see how people were living in the respective times and much more interesting, what and how they were eating – leading to interesting experiences like eating maggots, calf’s head and other interesting things one does not eat anymore nowadays.

The show started with the one-off series “Edwarian Supersize Me” (watch on YouTube) based on which two seasons have been produced. Season 1 is called “The Supersizers Go …” and has six episodes: “The Supersizers Go … Wartime” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Go … Restoration” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Go … Victorian” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Go … Seventies” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Go … Elizabethan” (YouTube) and “The Supersizers Go … Regency” (YouTube).

The second season is called “The Supersizers Eat …” and has six episodes too: “The Supersizers Eat … The Eighties” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Eat … Medieval” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Eat … The French Revolution” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Eat … The Twenties” (YouTube), “The Supersizers Eat … The Fifties” (YouTube) and “The Supersizers Eat … Ancient Rome” (YouTube).

Each episode lasts about 60 minutes and is definitely worth seeing. Once for the insight you get on the food and secondly because it is rather entertaining watching the two main characters doing what they are doing! Definitely worth seeing!
