4. May 2013: Restaurant La Lupa
I experienced something I did not expect: the pizza was astonishingly good. I had “Pizza del sole con pomodori secchi, olive e alici, piccante” (CHF 18.50) and wanted salami as an additional topping (CHF 2.00). The dow was thin and crispy, the pizza was not burned (like one of my company) and it was not cold either (like another one of my company). The toppings were thick and overall it was just quite tasty.
The place itself is quite fine – very simple indeed but somehow also comfortable – not so far from an Italian grotto. The prices are very fair – at least for most (0,5L beer, CHF 5.10; espresso, CHF 3.80) but not for the Grappa di Brunello (2cl, CHF 10.50). We asked for the best grappa they have and the burning alcohol with absolutely no taste at its own was definitely nothing close to “best”.
While our waiter did his job, he only just did that – no passion, limitedly friendliness, overall just there to serve but no intention from his side to make the customer happy. When my colleague asked to warm up his pizza as it was not warm enough, he only reluctantly did so. Overall, my pizza was quite good but apparently not everybody’s. If you are looking for a simple pizza, you might wanna try but do not put your expectations up too high.
