8. May 2013: Restaurant Corinto Y Oro

| May 24, 2013 | 0 Comments

What a great kick-off of five days of eating, drinking and partying – we walked by the Restaurant Corinto Y Oro and it just looked appealing to us. Mainly because they had an offer of 10 pintox (which are the Bilbao way for tapas) and 1 bottle of wine for EUR 27.50. We started with a plate of pinxtos ranging from salmon to sardines, duck liver (delicias de magret de pato con puré de higos y lemon curd) and jamon ibérico.

… and even more – at some point we told Jessica, the waitress, to provide us with whatever the chef wanted to offer us and the first surprise was cooked duck liver (foie a la plancha con coulis de mango)! Absolutely amazingly delicious!

Sometimes we got a simple in-between course …

At some point after 5 hours of eating we had enough – only when we had another 5 bottles of wine, we decided we should have some cheesy chips – well, that was the low-light of the evening but then again, what do you expect from cheesy chips!

The place is unique – it is modern, very welcoming and last but not least, it gets so crowded at around 8pm you literally have to squeeze yourselfs in to fit. There is no passing really – the pintxos you get here are so damn good!

After spending approximately 6 hours at this place, we figured, we should take a good-bye picture with the waitress, Jessica, (I guess you can spot which one is her) and the chef (the one in the front with the white shirt). Thanks again for this marvelous evening, outstanding food and amazing service!

A few lines about numbers – the wine called “Seleccion SC” accounts for EUR 11.00, a small bottle of water (0,33L) for EUR 1.50, a selection of 15 Pintxos for EUR 26.00, a selection of 10 pintxos for EUR 16.50. Overall, this place definitely rocks! Very nice place, amazingly great food, outstanding service that evening and last but not least – very fair in price! We had 11 bottles of wine, 5 bottles of water and I do not know how many pintxos – it accounted for only EUR 208.80! If you are in Bilbao – go there! You have to!
