18. May 2013: Restaurant Comunale Caffè e Cucina
This place was recommended by two locals – and I must say the recommendation was worth trying. As a starter I had “Bruschette al Peperone” (Bruschette sa kozijim sirom, 300.00 RSD) which were tasty – especially as I am not used to this kind of pepper chutney which is apparently quite common in Serbia.
The main dish – “grilled octopus” (Grilovana Hobotnica Josper, 1’600.00 RSD) – was delicious! I don’t know why I took octopus as Belgrade is not located close to the sea but it was nevertheless a very good idea. The food was really, really good!
It is a bit difficult to get a table as the place is very crowded – even when you go to have dinner at 10pm (which we did). So it is pretty crucial that you book a table – and ask for one outside because even at this time of the day/night, you can still see people strolling along the Sava river. The service is very dedicated, friendly and helpful and the prices are also rather fair. 0,75L of “Aqua Viva” account for 220.00 RSD, a bottle of Nero d’Avola accounts for 1’800.00 RSD (although in this case not recommendable as the wine is way too young (2012)), an espresso for 140.00 RSD and a coke zero (0,25L) for 200.00 RSD.
Last but not least, the place is also nicely styled – cool furniture, stylish, modern – you just have to love it! All in all, definitely a place I would go again!
