19. May 2013: Restaurant Madera
The Restaurant Madera was recommended to us by various people so we expected quite something – unfortunately our expectations were not met at all! The “Hummus” (490.00 RSD) we ordered was definitely not the best hummus I have tried but it was all fine …
… until I realized that there was “fungus” on the pita bread!
The next course was “Beef Tatar” (1’540.00 RSD) which looked promising – but again it was not really. The meat was somehow “refined” with flour – at least it tasted like as the meat seemed to be coated in something which I could not quite point out.
The place itself is quite okay, located in the backyard of a building with view of the park. Definitely a “posh” place to go – this impression was confirmed by the kind of people and cars being in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the waiter was definitely not up to his task – he tried his best, I’m sure, but it was not even closely satisfying. Although he kept his professional “attitude”, you could just feel that he did not like his job.
Although this place is apparently one of “the places to go” in Belgrade if you want to eat, I must say, it is definitely not! The food is below average, the service too – the fact that it is quite nicely located and the prices are rather fair (1L water, 210.00 RSD), doesn’t change anything! Two words: Don’t go!
