14. July 2013: Restaurant Les Rochats

| July 25, 2013 | 0 Comments

It is years ago I have last eaten snails so I figured it was about time to try them again so I ordered a plate of six “Escargote” (CHF 10.50). Nothing much has changed since I ate them last: they do not taste like much but like the sauce they’re served in only this time it was not really this usual garlic sauce but some combination of garlic and onion sauce which was definitely very tasty!

The “Entrecôte de boeuf avec beurre café de paris avec legumes et frites” (beef entrecôte with Café de Paris, vegetables and French fries; CHF 35.00) was astonishingly good (wihch might also have been triggered by the fact that it was basically bathing in herb butter!

Something very typical for this area is absinth – so I had to try the “Coupe de fée vert” (CHF 10.50; pistachio ice cream with absinth). It is damn boozy! Only if you stir it quite a bit up with the icecream it actually gets this very enjoyable taste!

The place is very simple but also quite nice and provides you with a perfectly relaxing atmosphere in the sun. The service is friendly and competent but incredibly slow. I actually started thinking at this point that maybe it depends on the area in which you are – I mean I never experience quick service in the French speaking part of Switzerland!

Overall, the Restaurant Les Rochats is definitely a nice place to come to if you are in the area anyway. On the other hand, if you are not, then I would not really recommend you driving here. It is not that good!
