1. August 2013: Restaurant DOTS im Brunnerhof

| August 11, 2013 | 0 Comments

I have been to the two other DOTS restaurants in Vienna – DOTS – Experimental Sushi and the DOTS TwentyOne. And I must say that also the third DOTS is a good address but somehow I was not as persuaded as with the others.

The “crab chips” were already on the table …

… and they went very well together with the tuna paste.

The “Vietnamese Lemon Soup” (EUR 7.00) had a strong and intense lemon taste but at the same time was somewhat watery (but did not taste like being watery).

I thought that I should try a typical DOTS dish, so I went for the “DOTS Sushi Lover (12 Nigiri, 4 Maki, 8 experimental maki, sashimi)” (EUR 29.90). One hint ahead, you have to be really hungry to eat the whole thing. It is really quite a lot. The nigiri, maki and sashimi were fresh and in the best of taste. The “Angry Dragon Roll (baked prawn, mango, spicy crab, tobiko and mango chili sauce)” (+ 3.50 EUR) were somehow not as good as other experimental sushi I have had!

But the place is truly amazing – it already looks quite nice when you enter the place …

… but it is even much much nicer when you have entered the patio. Beautiful decoration, suffused with light, all held in white – absolutely lovely!

The service is very friendly but it seems like the kitchen is a bit challenged with the number of guests – you have to be very patient to get your food. We waited approximately 45 minutes until something was served – so patience is key.

To sum it up, the experience at DOTS im Brunnerhof was good – the food was not that amazing as it was in the other two but the place is absolutely mind-boggling! The service is nice but the kitchen is too slow – and the prices are fair but not really cheap. All in all, worth going, worth trying, worth enjoying the nice evenings in the patio!
