20. December 2013: Restaurant Fiorenzano

| December 28, 2013 | 0 Comments

Once more the Delinski reference was a good one – I started with a “Crema di Davolfiore, Salmone marinato e Uova di Quaglia” (EUR 12.00, respectively EUR 8.40) which is a cauliflower cream soup with marinated salmon and poached quail eggs. The soup was definitely not a soup but a cream but I must admit that it was actually quite tasty. The marinated salmon was rich in taste, not too fat and the poached quail egg was the perfect finish.

The main course, a “Filetto di Manzo con Spuma di Patate, punte d’Asparagi e salsa ai fungho” (EUR 29.90, respectively EUR 20.93) which is a “tender beef filet with potato foam, asparagus and mushroom sauce”, was overall okay. The beef was tender but lacked a bit in aroma, the potato spuma was actually quite tasteful and the asparagus was rather normal.

As a last course I had a “Variazone di Sorbetti al Lampone, Arancie e Limone” (EUR 8.00, respectively EUR 5.60) which was a selection of raspberry, orange and lemon sorbet which was fine – but actually just average.

Overall, the dishes are okay – frankly, the starter was quite good but the rest was rather average. The prices are quite orgulous but when you book your table via Delinski (and can safe 30% off the bill) it is okay price-wise. The same applies for the beverages, a double espresso accounts for EUR 4.70 (respectively EUR 3.29), a 0,75L bottle of San Pellegrino for EUR 5.50 (respectively EUR 3.85) and a bottle of red wine “Bricco dell’Uccellone, 2008, Braida” for EUR 70.00 (respectively EUR 49.00).

The service is overall quite okay – friendly, rather quick and helpful. Only in the end it took them quite some time to bring the bill. Nevertheless, you can see that they are true Italians in an Italian restaurant which is a pleasant thing. The place itself is a bit lifeless but modernly designed and not generally unpleasant. Only the EUR 2.50 (respectively EUR 1.75) cover charge for oil and bread I consider a bit excessive.

All in all, the Restaurant Fiorenzano is quite okay – sound dishes and fair if you book via Delinski, else I consider it too expensive for what you get.
