29. December 2013: SIP @ W Istanbul Hotel
The “Char Grilled Burger” (32.00 TRL) at the SIP in the W Istanbul was not entirely to my liking. While the meat patty itself was fine and also served warm the pre-applied sauce was rather scarce but pimped with some mayonnaise and ketchup it was fine overall. The only thing which was definitely a downer was the fact that the French Fries were served already cold – an absolute no-go!
The Turkish Tea (5.00 TRL) was quite fine though but it was served even after the burger – which was a bit odd as usually beverages are served before the dishes. In any case, the food was not entirely to my gusto but the place itself is very stylish, modernly desigend, very comfortable and just somehow generally appealing.
The waitress was very friendly and had to deal with quite a difficult and very rude guest – which explained the slight delay in the delivery of the Turkish tea – but in any case. Friendly and good service.
Overall, the SIP at the W Istanbul is a nice place – great interior, good service, fair prices but frankly, you should not go there for the food. The Gratuity of 10% is added to the bill – and another 10% for the tax. While the tax is something noone can argue about it was quite a surprise that the 10% gratuity are added to the bill.
