4. February 2014: Restaurant Pizzeria Buongiorno
The “Gnocchi in rocket salad pesto with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella” (EUR 8.00 – including dessert) were surprisingly fine – the taste was fine, the pesto intense but not overwhelming and last but not least the consistency of the gnocchi was enjoyable.
Unfortunately, that was definitely not the case for the dessert – the “panna cotta with saffron and whipped cream” was a downer. The panna cotta did not taste like much and the saffron was just somehow not fitting in there. In any case, as fine as the main dish was as much a disappointment was the dessert – which leads to the rating of 2 stars. But then again, what are you to expect for EUR 8.00 only?
The service is quick, friendly and leaves you alone which is comfortable if you do not have a lot of time to eat lunch. The prices are absolutely fair (e.g. EUR 6.50 for 1L water, EUR 3.90 for a double espresso) and even if you only get the gnocchi and leave the dessert, it is still a good deal. The place itself is not too appealing – quite dark, quite heavy but they try to make it fine. Summarizing my experience at this particular place: if you’re hungry and up for a cheap and fine lunch, go here, else, do not.
