22. March 2014: Restaurant Stef’s Freieck
My last visit to Stef’s Freieck was not that long ago and just as last time, I was happy with my choice. I started with a “carrot ginger soup with a cream cap, roasted onions and croutons” (CHF 14.00) and it was truly delicious. The carrot ginger soup was smooth and intense but the roasted onions provided the soup with a flavor which made the dish special, yet not too overwhelming (which it often does).
As a main course, I went for a “pork filet with green asparagus, mashed potatoes and a morel sauce” (CHF 45.00). Though tasty and full of flavor the filet could have been just slightly more tender. The accompanying elements of the dish were fine – a sound dish with a great morel sauce but leaving room for improvement.
The place itself is still absolutely lovely as it makes you feel as welcome as you would feel in your own living room. The waiter was friendly and did a good job. And last but not least, also the prices are very fair (water, 0,5L, CHF 6.90, double espresso, CHF 6.00). Overall, I can still recommend Stef’s Freieck – though last time it was somewhat better.
