30. March 2014: Restaurant Huth Gastwirtschaft

| April 20, 2014 | 0 Comments

The “beef tatar with mayonnaise mustard, capers, egg and toast” (EUR 11.90) was a great start for lunch – the meat was tender, tasty, and rich. The mayonnaise mustard spread on top of the beef was unnecessary but still fine – the eggs on the side were actually astonishingly mouth-watering although I am usually not particularly fond of eggs.

The “Pork Cordon Bleu with ham and Emmenthal” (EUR 14.90) which is apparently the best of Vienna was okay but to be entirely honest if this is Vienna’s best Cordon Bleu then Vienna does not really have a clue about Cordon Bleus. However, the Cordon Bleu is good …

… and the “potato lamb’s lettuce salad” which comes with it is rich and truly a Viennese specialty.

As a starter they had served “bread, butter and something called Verhackertes” (EUR 1.8o) which was kind of a meaty spread and absolutely rich as a starter.

For dessert I had “lime and pomegranade sorbet” which was beautifully refreshing and a light closing of the lunch. The Restaurant Huth Gastwirtschaft is a nice little atmospheric place – simply but nicely decorated but the sister restaurant just across the street, the Restaurant Huth da Moritz is a tiny bit more atmospheric.

The service is dedicated, quick and very friendly – absolutely lovely and caring people. Overall, the food at the Restaurant Huth Gastwirtschaft, who’s owner, Robert Huth, was awarded “restaurateur of the year“, is good, the place is nice, the service is outstanding and the prices are fair.
