27. May 2014: Restaurant MASI Wine Bar
The MASI Wine Bar only recently opened its doors and as I am a huge fan of Masi wines I obviously had to try this restaurant and I started with a “Insalata di Calamari” (CHF 22.00) which was very tasty as it was fresh, not chewy at all and the way it was spiced up was very appealing.
As a main course I went for the “Vitello al Limone” (CHF 36.00) which was generally fine as the meat was of good quality and the lemon sauce was actually real liquid lemon sauce and not this sticky stuff you often get when you have Vitello al Limone.
What truly blew my mind was the “Polenta Bianca” (CHF 6.00) as I had never tried white polenta before and I must say that I also did not expect it to be that good but it was perfect, very smooth but still a bit corny but aromatic and flavourful.
Obviously, I had to have a glass of wine on the side which came from the Masi vineyard and logically I tried a wine I had not tried before, so I went for the “Brolo Campofiorin Oro” (CHF 7.00 per glass) which was full-bodied and flavourful. But not only the food and wine are good at the Restaurant Masi Wine bar – so is the service which is dedicated, passionate, and friendly. Only sometimes when my water glass became empty I had to be patient and wait for it to be filled – or had to do it myself.
On top of the good service, there comes the very nice and appealing atmosphere. The interior is lovely, held in wood and makes you feel comfortable right away. In addition to that, the prices are very reasonable (which also applies to the beverages: San Pellegrino, 0,5L, CHF 5.50; double espresso, CHF 6.50). So, all in all, Bindella created a very nice new restaurant with good food, fair prices, nice atmosphere and good service.
