4. July 2014: Restaurant Cocoro

| July 21, 2014 | 0 Comments

When my friend suggested to have a pre-dinner I was absolutely astonished but who am I to decline such an offer to yet try another restaurant? Well, exactly, I did not decline the offer so we went for dinner at Restaurant Cocoro and as it was pre-dinner I decided to go for “three kinds of sashimi (tuna, salmon and seabass)” (GBP 22.00) and I must say I was a bit disappointed. The salmon was good, the tuna was great but the seabass was really not to my liking – additionally, paying CHF 3.90 for one of these sashimis is quite a lot given how much I liked them.

As a dinner (and even a pre-dinner) has always more than one course, I decided to go for “Nasudengaku (Grilled Aubergine with Miso Paste)” (GBP 7.00) and I must say, here I was not disappointed as the aubergine was very tasty and rich with the miso paste.

What is definitely a good sign though is the fact that you can watch the sushi master prepare the sushi. The place is rather simple and not too appealing and the service is only limitedly attentive and it took quite a while until the bill finally arrived after it was ordered. The prices for the beverages are fair too (bottle of water, GBP 4.00).

Overall, I am not entirely sure what to think about the Restaurant Cocoro – on one hand the food was quite good (besides the seabass) and to be entirely fair the soup my friend had was actually really good, on the other hand I consider almost CHF 4.00 for a piece of sashimi which does not blow my mind quite a stretch. However, best is if you go figure yourself – the place is small, the service is friendly but a bit un-attentive and last but not least there is room for improvement with regards to the atmosphere.
