5. July 2014: Restaurant Kopapa

| July 24, 2014 | 0 Comments

The “West Country beef burger with tomato chilli relish, smoked aioli, Emmental, crispy bacon and coleslaw” (GBP 9.90) is a hefty dish. The burger is quite okay as the buns are nicely toasted, the beef is of fair quality, the bacon is actually crispy but what I liked the most was the coleslaw as it was somehow astonishingly refreshing.

As the burger did not seem like it was going to satisfy my hunger, I decided upfront to have the “Stornoway black pudding” (GBP 4.00) as a side dish. I always liked black pudding and I was not disappointed this time either. The black pudding had quite a crispy crust which was a bit unusual but was still very pleasant as the inside was still nicely soft and very yummy.

To finish off lunch, I had an “Avocado toast with chilli, goat’s cheese, mint & lemon oil” (GBP 8.00) which looked quite heavy at first but was actually very light and through the mint and lemon oil also quite interesting in taste.

As it was weekend, I figured a little cocktail couldn’t harm anyone and I tried something new – the “Wasabitini (Element 29 vodka, fresh cucumber, wasabi, yuzu juice & sugar)” (GBP 9.50) and while it was definitely weird to read that a cocktail was about to be served with wasabi but I must say that the cocktail had a nice spicy wasabi finishing which was very pleasant.

The place itself is not that special looking at the layout or the design itself but it still manages to be nice somehow – it is atmospheric but mainly due to the crowd. The service does a good job overall and is at your table when you need them. The dishes are tasty but not outstanding, the prices are very fair for what you get (the same applies to water, Hildon Fizzy 750ml, GBP 3.50). Overall, the Restaurant Kopapa is a nice place to enjoy your lunch or brunch as it is somewhat stylish, has a good crowd, nice food, interesting drinks and fair service for quite okay prices.
