24. July 2014: Restaurant Loft Five

| August 20, 2014 | 0 Comments

The “king prawns on tomatoes and avocado tatar with marinaded oranges” (CHF 16.50) was definitely a refreshing starter for lunch – the king prawns are of a great consistency and very aromatic – the tomato and avocado tatar provides freshness and the marinaded oranges complement the dish with its sweetness.

The “classic beef tatar, served with butter, a small salad and crispy home-made bread” (CHF 29.00) is of good quality – and so is the home-made bread but the slices of bread, while being toasted, are rather thick which is a bit uncommon (at least in my experience) making the whole thing quite a bread-y experience.

The place itself is simple but nice – especially if you get a table outside in the usn so you can enjoy the nice weather. The prices are rather fair for what you get which also applies to the beverages (water, CHF 6.50; double espresso, CHF 6.00). The waiter is friendly and rather quick but you have to be patient anyway over lunch time as there is not enough personnel to be “available” for all tables at all times. Additionally, they messed up the orders quite a bit – and came with plates we hadn’t ordered to our table about three times until our orders finally arrived. Not a big deal, even kind of funny but not really perfect service. Still, the Loft Five is definitely recommendable for lunch.
