13. August 2014: Restaurant Lumière

| September 19, 2014 | 0 Comments

The “Steak Tatar Classique with toast” (CHF 28.00) is of good but not outstanding quality but at least it is served with enough pickles, capers and onions to refine it to your liking. Additionally, there is – for once – enough toast so you do not have to re-order various times.

What the restaurant Lumière is apparently famous for is the “Filet de Bœuf, Café de Paris, 200gr” (CHF 64.00). At first I thought the price is quite heavy but I must admit that it is also worth the quality as the meat is delicious and the sauce even more so. However, I had ordered my meat medium-rare but was served it “medium” which was a bit of a disappointment.

The “Pommes Alumettes” which come with the Filet de Bœuf were tasty, no question but they do not match my preferred “pommes alumettes” (from the Restaurant La Côte).

The service was dedicated the whole night – whenever we ordered a new beer (0,25L, CHF 5.50), another bottle of wine (Passo Doble, CHF 48.00) or even the double espresso at the end (CHF 6.50) it was brought to our table within a few seconds. In addition to that, the waiters were friendly and helpful. The prices are definitely not the lowest but still fair for what you get. What is great though about the place is the atmosphere – it is really like a French restaurant, small, warm, and quite packed. Which obviously also leads to a certain level of noise which is only limitedly pleasant (especially if you are a larger group). All in all, I can recommend the Restaurant Lumière (booking recommended).
