16. August 2014: Restaurant Don Weber

| September 26, 2014 | 0 Comments

What you get at the Restaurant Don Weber is real Mexican food! Just kidding – it is the Americanized version of Mexican food. However, even this can sometimes be really tasty. I had the “starters platter (chicken wings, BBQ, potato skins, albondigas, onion rings, quesidallas, corn chips with salsa, sour cream and guacamole”) (CHF 15.00 per person, min. 2 people) and I must admit that it was actually quite good. I mean, the onion rings were not too dark, the albondigas actually aromatic, the quesadillas quite but not entirely light.

As a main course I had a “Burrito de Chorizo (wheat tortilla with vegetables and chorizo, gratinéed with cheese, accompanied by salsa, sour cream, black beans and guacamole)” (CHF 28.50) which is on one side actually very delicious – but on the other side the plate is so large that I was not even closely able to finish the dish (but at least you can get your rests packed and take them home).

With regards to the service, the place is quite fine – if you are patient you are at least rewarded with the friendliness of the waitress. With regards to the interior decoration on the other hand I must admit that it is not that special (or great, notwithstanding that it is based on the theme of being a Mexican restaurant). At least the prices are decent (which also applies for beverages (0,5L water, CHF 6.20; 0,5L margarita, CHF 29.00; Corona, CHF 7.00). All in all, the Restaurant Don Weber is a nice place to eat something simple and catch up with a couple of friends.
