26. August 2014: Restaurant George
I have been to the Restaurant George a couple of days before to have a drink – and by coincidence, I landed at the Restaurant George again for lunch. Part of the lunch menu was a “tomato buffalo mozzarella salad”. The tomatoes were not ripe yet but the buffalo mozzarella was aromatic and very tasty.
The main course was “roastbeef, Sauce Béarnaise, home-made fries and grilled vegetables” (CHF 42.00 – including the starter). The roastbeef was absolutely delicious – thickly cut, aromatic, perfectly cooked to the point. The sauce Béarnaise is luscious and the fries are perfectly crispy. I must admit, while CHF 42.00 for a lunch is not cheap, the quality of what you get legitimizes the price.
The place is absolutely great – although better at night as it is more atmospheric. The prices are steep but okay as the dishes are great. With regards to the beverages the prices are fair (0,5L water, CHF 6.50; double espresso, CHF 6.80; a glass of red wine, CHF 10.50). The service is friendly, helpful and dedicated. Personally, the Restaurant George is definitely a great new place which I will not have payed my last visit.
