11. September 2014: Café Sant Jaume
Something I haven’t tried before provided me with something I have never experienced before – “Granizado de Limon” (EUR 2.00) and brain freeze. Now, “granizado” is basically crushed ice enriched with some flavour, in this case lemon. Obviously, it is very cold and if you slurp it up very quickly you experience something called brain freeze where you have the immediate effect of you feeling that your brain just had stopped working. Definitely a first-timer to me but I must admit, the thing was so tasty that I had to order another two rounds, slurping waaaaaaay more slowly this time!
The Café Saint Jaume is located basically on the Plaza de Saint Jaume which is pretty busy but somehow it is still nice to sit there and enjoy the atmosphere, the business of the streets when the city comes back to life after 5pm when the sun goes down and the heat starts to go away.
The waitress (who seemed to own the place) was very friendly and brought the requested orders within a few minutes. Only with regards to her paying attention to the customers, there is definitely optimization potential. Still, all in all, I would definitely sit down again at the Café Saint Jaume …
… and enjoy a brain-freezing granizado!
