23. May 2010: Ristorante Alzaia 26

| May 24, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Ristorante Alzaia 26 is located in the Naviglio Grande close to restaurants like the “Officina 12“. It’s therefore easily reachable by various means of transportation (tram 9 & 29/30, stop “Gorizia Vigevano”; tram 3, stop “S. Gottardo 24 maggio”, green metro line, stop “Porta Genova”).

The restaurant looks small and cozy from the outside like a real Italian family restaurant – or at least they way you expect one to look like.

The inside looks nice and comfortable – it’s a bit cramped as the tables are standing quite close to each other but it still creates a nice feeling.

The waiters are friendly and are really trying to be helpful but sometimes you just wonder if the things which they do couldn’t be solved differently. The whole restaurants has one olive oil can, one accetto balsamico, one pepper mill, and only one bowl of parmesan cheese for all the tables. Furthermore, the bread is taken away after the first course which is somewhat weird as one on our table had a salad as a main dish (and that’s usually where you want to use the bread with to have some sauce in the end). So, service or certain rules linked to it could definitely be improved here.

As a starter I’ve had a “Carpaccio di Manzo” with fresh Parmesan cheese on lamb’s lettuce. It was quite good and although the meet was sliced quite thick for carpaccio it was good.

As a main dish I’ve had “Osso Bucco on Risotto alla Milanese” which was tasty but the sauce for the osso bucco somehow lacked a bit in specialness – so to say. It was good but didn’t taste like too much. The meat was absolutely good and the risotto extremly tasty.

All in all, the Ristorante Alzaia 26 is a good restaurant to have a quick break (or a bit a longer one) as it is a small place with nice interior design, friendly staff (which could improve a bit in organization skills), good food and decent prices. When you’re in the navigli area and hungry, it’s a safe card to go there.
