14. October 2014: Restaurant George
The “Shrimp Cocktail” which came with the menu was rich in taste but had a pretty tasty but watery sauce which was a pity. However, overall, a good starter as rich in aroma and great consistency of the shrimps.
As a main course for lunch they served a traditional Swiss dish “meat loaf in puff paste, with a tomato leek ragout” (CHF 28.50). The meat was an absolutely sufficient portion of food and it was not only enough but also rich while being rather simple at heart.
The place is still very nice – it is not as mind-blowing as the first time you come here but still pretty nice. And the prices are fair for Zurich (0,5L water, CHF 6.50; double espresso, CHF 6.80). Besides that the waitress does a good job, is always there when you need her and is attentive and professional. Overall, I can still recommend the Restaurant George and I must say for lunch menus it is even reasonable in price.
