18. October 2014: Restaurant La Crema Canela
The “risotto with shrimps and pesto” (EUR 7.85) as a starter is a bad idea. Not because it is not tasty, it actually is, but it is way too big a portion so you feel like you have had more than enough right after eating the risotto. The shrimp are a bit dry but at least aromatic.
As a small main course I went for the “tuna tataki with spicy tomato, basil chips and sesame seeds” (EUR 9.50) – while it looked absolutely amazing I must admit it did not make it to the top range of dishes I have tried. The tuna was not really smooth, and only limitedly aromatic. On the other hand, the basil chips were incredibly taste intense which was almost overhwelming the rest of the dish.
For the fact that the restaurant is located incredibly close to a very touristic area the prices are absolutely fair. The same applies for the bread (EUR 1.00), espresso (EUR 1.20), and water (EUR 1.50). In addition to that, the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely – modernly but simply furnished, the interior is even nicer as the whole place is held in wood and white – lovely.
The service is good – the waiters are friendly and attentive but some of them should use deodorant as it is really a turn-down when you get your food served and the waiter smells like he has not showered for days. Else, fine place.
