19. October 2014: Restaurant Carpe Diem Lounge Club [CDLC]

| December 23, 2014 | 0 Comments

I had been at the Carpe Diem Lounge Club two years ago for clubbing – but never really for eating. However, as the restaurant I had originally booked for midday was full at the time we arrived (2pm), we decided to go next door and ended up at CDLC. Knowing that the “Chef’s Menu (a tasty five-course meal with an East-West fusion)” (EUR 55.00) is always the best way to get to know the abilities of the chef, we went for exactly that.

While we were waiting for our wine, a bottle of “Mauro, 2011” (EUR 85.00; the second one was a 2009), we were served some “bread & spread” – the spread was quite aromatic and the bread actually rich.

The menu started with “ceviche de seabass” which was absolutely luscious – aromatic, full of citrus flavours, light, just enchanting your palate.

Next in line was the “cheese sushi with mango” and O.M.G.! I mean, I like sushi, I like cheese, and I like mango. The combination of the three is breath-taking – and mouth-watering though. The sushi was incredibly good!

The first warm course was a “seabass with soy sauce and artichoke cream” – and I must say that was a little disappointment compared to the two courses served just beforehand. However, complaining on a high level here, I must admit that they were still, overall, quite rich.

The main course was “couscous, duck magreb, and sweet potato mousse” – and again it did not really match the starters. the duck was aromatic but too dry and somehow also a bit too seasoned. The couscous was tasty so and so was the sweet potato mousse. And if you ate the duck with the mousse, it was actually quite fine.

The last course of the night was a “choco cake with icecream” and while it was definitely a simple dish, it was overall quite a good ending to the menu. The real highlight of the place is not the food though – while it is absolutely good. One part of the real highlight is the place itself as it is very atmospheric. The other highlight is definitely the waiter. In our case, Nassim was our waiter, and man, he did a great job. We were obviously in a good mood, and we shared it with him – and he went along! It was just so fun, so if you have the chance to sit outside in the sun and by chance get Nassim as a waiter, you are very lucky!

What is offered at the CDLC besides the food and the atmosphere is also a massage while you are at the table. And you are allowed to pay the girl how much you want – and it is the perfect break in between two courses. When you leave the restaurant, you are full, happy, relaxed, and entertained. Definitely a great experience overall!
