22. October 2014: Restaurant San Valentina
The “Carpaccio alla piemontese with rocket salad and parmesan” (CHF 15.50) looked okay – and tasted okay. The beef did not really seem too fresh but was still okay overall. However, it was not the most pleasant start for a lunch.
The main course on the other hand was way richer – the “tagliatelle dello zar (homemade noodles with chicken, rocket salad and a saffron cream sauce” (CHF 24.50) were rich and aromatic, and the chicken was nicely juicy. However, the tagliatelle were not really served al dente which was a bit of a disappointment. But also considering the price of the dish, it was definitely a sound dish.
The prices are fair for the dishes as well as for the water (1l, CHF 9.60) but I consider CHF 7.50 for a double espresso quite a stretch – actually close to inacceptable! However, the waiter was friendly and quick at all times and also up for a small joke from time to time. Overall, the Restaurant San Valentina is a place which is absolutely fair to go to for lunch.
