29. November 2014: Restaurant MoschMosch
Apparently, the Restaurant MoschMosch is a restaurant chain – which I would usually not try but a friend recommended to go there so I thought, let’s give it a try. I went for the “Harumaki spring rolls” (EUR 4.50) as a starter. Frankly speaking, they were not really persuading. I mean, they are spring rolls, or they are a bit above average size spring rolls, but else they are really nothing special.
As a main course I had “Yakiudon (fried udon noodles with seasonal vegetables in teriyaki sauce, roasted onions, celery and shiitake mushrooms)” (EUR 7.75) and “beef fillet in a pepper crust” (+ EUR 6.00). This course on the other hand, surprised me positively as the meat was actually quite good and the whole dish was overall pretty enjoyable.
As I was still a bit hungry, I went for the “Jacos – Japanese Tacos, filled with duck” (EUR 4.00) and the “Gyôza with chicken stuffing” (EUR 4.00). While the jacos definitely sounded interesting, they were basically bread with a piece of duck on top of it. The filling you had to do yourself and it was really not prepared in a practical way. The gyôza were fine but the dough was – in my opinion – too ‘raw’.
The “homemade green tea ice tea” (0,5L, EUR 3.50) was actually quite delicious – despite the fact that it was sugarfree. The place is somehow like a Vapiano – the interior is nice, style-wise (actually a bit nicer than Vapiano) – but it lacks real atmosphere. The service is friendly and does a good job but it is really just a “take order” and “bring food” job. Overall, the Restaurant MoschMosch is a good place for a quick lunch. Else, I would not really recommend it.
