30. November 2014: Restaurant Urban Kitchen

| January 26, 2015 | 0 Comments

What I heard about the “Urban Kitchen” sounded very promising – however, I was quite a bit disappointed. You get to have brunch for EUR 16.90 where you can help yourself at the buffet as well as pick everything from the menu you want. This should have already should make me wonder.

There is a selection of salads of the season, caprese salad, cold cuts, smoked salmon, cheeses, bread, …

… croissants, jams, nutella, honey, butter, …

… plus you get to order whatever you want from the menu. I went for the “chicken skewer mediterranean style with tzatziki and fries”. Well, I shouldn’t have. The chicken was very artificial in taste, the fries were dry and did not taste like much. The best element of the course was the tzatziki.

The “gnocchi with tomato sauce” were – well – artificial. The gnocchi were not cooked for long enough, the cheese definitely was artificial (I mean, you can even see it). Not a good dish!

To sum the food part up, nope, thanks! The quality of the dishes is just low. I guess you can’t expect much when you pay EUR 16.90 for such a large selection of food but it was really disappointing! However, there are rather stylish “tables” where you can sit and ‘enjoy’ your breakfast.

The service is friendly but it takes ages for them to finally only bring the drinks. On the other hand, the dishes arrive rather quickly – which is again an indicator of the low quality of the dishes. At least the beverages are good – the “Green Tea Gunpowder” (EUR 3.40) was tasty. But that was already it – the “home made grenadine soda” (0,4L, EUR 3.80) is really just syrup and some soda – I guess one could call this “home-made”. The smoothie I wanted was “not available” anymore. So much about being freshly prepared – if you prepare a smoothie freshly, you just need the respective fruit. I guess that was asked too much.

All in all, definitely a place to not go for brunch!
