4. December 2014: Restaurant Brüdigams

| January 26, 2015 | 0 Comments

Once more I relied on TripAdvisor – and once more I was not disappointed. The Restaurant Brüdigams is located a bit away from the city centre but it is worth the taxi ride. The evening started (pretty late, I arrived around 10pm) with an amuse bouche “cous cous salad with goat cheese” which was a simple but nice start to wake up the taste buds. What has to be mentioned though is the flexibility and friendliness of the staff. I had called that I was going to be late, and the staff welcomed me friendly when I finally arrived and although the kitchen closes at 10pm, and we were the last guests, they did not display any hint of “not being happy that we showed up”.

The first course I had was a “goat cheese au gratin with truffled swede mash and dried fruit chutney” (EUR 9.50). The goat cheese was of a nice consistency, creamy, but not liquid, and the combination with the swede mash and the dried fruit chutney made it an aromatic, flavourful dish.

As a main, I went for the “muscovy duck joint à l’orange with red apple cabbage and bread dumplings” (EUR 18.50). The duck was juicy and rich in taste and fit perfectly well with the sauce and the red apple cabbage. The bread dumplings were also great but the dish is quite generous – I was not able to finish it.

For what you get, the prices are absolutely reasonable which also applies to the beverages – a glass of “Grauburgunder Nett, 0,2L” accounts for EUR 5.00, a glass of the red wine (I forgot to write down which one) accounts for EUR 6.50, and finally a double espresso for EUR 3.20. The interior of the place is simple but very appealing and atmospheric. It has – in my eyes – a slight touch of “hipster” but in a pleasant way. The service is – as mentioned – very friendly. The waitress was dedicated to make our meal a good experience! And she succeeded – in collaboration with the chef.

I can recommend you going to Brüdigams and leave the city centre – worth it!
