29. December 2014: Restaurant El Menzeh @ Le Méridien N’Fis

| February 18, 2015 | 0 Comments

Given it was the first night in Marrakesh, I decided to have dinner in the hotel (260 MAD per person for the buffet). And frankly, this was really a bad decision. The buffet looks quite okay at first but already when you peak into the food containers you get the message pretty soon that this won’t be any gourmet experience. The selection is not really outstanding starting with “fish of the day” …

… “pommes du jour”. Frankly, all of the above mentioned I tried, and it was really not good! I wonder how so many people (the place was full after like 30 minutes) can actually have dinner here. Seriously, the food is just not good. It is not gross or anything but it is just not good!

At least the “salad buffet” was decent. The selection is fine, and you get to eat salad which was okay. But honestly, this is really …

… besides the “dessert buffet” the only thing you should dig into here. The warm dishes are a no go! With regards to the atmosphere is not much to say. The place is a typical hotel dining area which is only limitedly appealing but also not bad. One thing was cool though – there was a guy with playing music during the whole dinner which was definitely pleasant.

The service is friendly and exerted but also there is room for improvement. While they really try there best it is just not really up to the standards I would expect. The prices are – for Morocco – quite steep. 260 MAD for the food that is offered is quite heavy. A bottle of water (1,5L for 35MAD) is fine, and a bottle of wine (0,375L) of Médaillon for 220 MAD is fine too.

Overall, there is just one thing to say. Even if you stay at the Le Méridien (which is nice), do not go to the El Menzeh for dinner. Go out, go somewhere else! The food is a no go!
