3. January 2015: Restaurant Bô & Zin

| March 4, 2015 | 0 Comments

The “Apple Mojito” (160 MAD on the menu, 150 MAD actually charged) is quite tasty but you have to be patient until it arrives at your table quite a lot. However, the waiting is not too bad as the atmosphere is quite appealing.

In order to get the full picture of the dishes available at the Restaurant Bô & Zin, I went for the “selection of starters (smoked salmon, prawns salad caesar four briouates, foie gras, organic salad)” (350 MAD) and I was positively surprised. The briouates were really good, the prawns were a bit dry but aromatic, the foie gras was quite disappointing, and last but not least the salmon was fine.

The same rule was obviously applied to the main course – so I had the “selection of mains (la Gazelle qui pleure, tagine of sea bass, slow roasted lamb, grilled salmon)” (350 MAD). All the dishes were really good – not outstanding or mind-blowing but quite good.

To keep the concept going, the last course was the “assortiment de desserts (crème brûlée, cheesecake, corne de gazelle, glace, fruits en brochette, cigare de ganache, tarte chocolate-caramel, nuage, sablés)” (250 MAD) which was an absolutely outstanding final to the dinner.

The service tries definitely its best and generally does a good job but there is also room for improvement. In the beginning the waiting definitely took too long – once the drinks were ordered it took them approximately 20 minutes to bring the mojito.

The place itself is absolutely lovely (although it looks a bit run down in the pictures). The atmosphere is amazing – all modern and interesting. The crowd is pretty exceptional too.

The place is really quite in on a Saturday night as every table is booked, you will have to wait even if you are on time. And there is a valet service where quite some fancy cars drive to.

The prices are generally fine for the dishes and also for the beverages (e.g. Café Illy, 30 MAD; water, 1L, 60 MAD; Bocchus, 0,75L, 500 MAD). But you have to make sure you check your bill again. The Mojito was 160 MAD in the menu and only 150 MAD on the bill (which is obviously good for you). The bottle of Bocchus on the other hand was 500 MAD on the menu and was charged 550 MAD. Not a biggy but just not the neat way.

Overall, the Restaurant Bô & Zin is worth a visit on a Saturday night – great atmosphere, generally good service, fine dishes, fair prices.
