The soup with carrots, lentils and curry is a good start for lunch. The aroma is intense and the soup is of rich flavour. Besides that it is also a portion which is big enough so you would already have quite something in your stomach after the first course.

While being generally quite simple it was a rich main course – the “trout filet from Giessenhof in Bern on mustard lentils and broccoli” (CHF 26.00, including the soup) was fine. The broccoli lacked a bit in taste but the fish was good and the mustard lentils were really aromatic. However, that you serve a starter and main course which both have lentils in them is a bit suboptimal.

The place is still atmospheric – really down-to-earth but atmospheric and you feel like in a good restaurant for builders and the like but it is actually full of business men. With regards to the service I can say that they are doing an okay job – they are friendly but a bit unattentive unfortunately. Overall, you get a really good business lunch menu at the Restaurant Hardhof for a very fair price.
