12. June 2010: Restaurant @Seehotel Rigi-Royal

| June 16, 2010 | 1 Comments

The Seehotel Rigi-Royal is situated in Immensee in Kanton Schwyz and is located right next to the Lake Lucerne. The hotel looks quite average on first sight from the outside but as soon as you enter the garden of the hotel you’re opinion changes. The view from the garden is just splendid and marvellous. Especially with nice weather, as the garden is located basically at lake level, it is absolutely beautiful to just be there and relax. Just about great!

The waitresses in the garden were friendly and helpful, and the drinks offered were very tasty too.

The dining room inside the hotel looks quite nice too but can’t compete with the view from the garden – honestly speaking. Still, it is somehow old-fashioned and provides a comfortable, nice atmosphere.

The service varies in quality – whereas some waiters/waitresses don’t pay too much attention (e.g. ignoring a few people at our table asking for more wine [and no, they weren’t drunk by then]) others – namely the Chef de Service – were absolutely perfect in accomplishing any kind of special wish guests had (from getting a special grappa up to cleaning specially designed glasses for decoration and pouring great whiskey there and finally even getting me the left over marzipan roses from the wedding cake [a friend of mine got married]). Nothing to complain about there, really. Still, quality shouldn’t vary among service people in one restaurant, therefore, a slight deduction of stars.

The dishes were absolutely good but somehow quite mainstream – nothing oustanding or surprising but absolutely reliable quality. Also, the way they were arranged was nice.

On prices I can’t judge as the event for going to the Seehotel Rigi-Royal was the wedding of a good friend of mine. What can be said though, that a Berta grappa for CHF 6.50 a glass only is quite acceptable for Switzerland in general. So, supposedly, a good price performance ratio.

All in all, the Seehotel Rigi-Royal is the perfect place to go and have a drink on a Sunday afternoon sitting right next to Lake Lucerne – the service is friendly and (mostly) flexible.
