29. March 2015: Restaurant The Providores and Tapa Room
It is approximately 3 years ago since I’ve last been at The Providores and Tapa Room but I have a vivid memory of it and already liked it very much back then. This time it was time for brunch so I went for some heavy breakfast, British style, and had “Turkish eggs from Changa restaurant in Istanbul – two poached eggs on whipped yoghurt with hot chilli butter and sourdough” (GBP 9.90). I never have had the combination of yoghurt with eggs – and hot chilli butter but I liked it quite a lot. The level of spiciness was perfect – spicy but still enjoyable and the yoghurt took out some of the intensity.
The “roast stornoway black pudding” (GBP 5.80) did not look appealing when served but was flavourful. However, for me it was too dry a dish somehow not having the smoothness it should have according to my standards.
As a drink I went for the “tamarillo and kiwifruit smoothie” (GBP 6.00) which was very refreshing. The place is still very atmospheric, very crowded, and it is highly recommended to go there before 11am if you want to have brunch because when I left the place, there was a huge line of people waiting to get in (despite the limitedly good weather).
