4. April 2015: Food Hall Kupetz Eliseevs
After randomly wandering around St. Petersburg we passed a place called “Food Hall Kupetz Eliseevs” which is basically a delicacy market where you can also sit down and enjoy a cup of tea and some macaroons (or anything else they offer there). The “fruit macaroons” (480 RUB) – you are free to pick any from the counter – are very fruity and have an intense and sweet flavour. The “green tea with mint leaves” (410 RUB) did not really have any mint leaves in it though which was a bit of a disappointment.
However, it absolutely pays off to wait a bit for a table in the middle of the room as the whole atmosphere is just very lovely if you are into food – all around you you can find fresh cheeses, cold cuts, sweets – just delicacies of all kinds!
The fight for a table is a pretty intense one – especially if you are more than two people – but with some patience you will finally end up getting the tables you need. The waitress is a bit slow as she had to ask like three times what the order was (and it was just two different kinds of tea) – but at least friendly.
Overall, it is definitely worth paying the “Food Hall Kupetz Eliseevs” a visit …
… as the interior is pretty unique …
… the macaroons are tasty …
… and the prices are very fair. Just be a bit patient with the service and you’ll have a great time here.
