11. April 2015: Restauracja U Barssa
There is one rather large place in Warsaw – where the main action seems to be. If you manage to get a nice table in the sun, it is definitely worth sitting down for a few hours, enjoy the “Honey Beer / Perla z miodem” (0,5L, 13 PLN) and have some traditional Polish food like the “real rye soup with white sausage and egg” (17 PLN) which is quite intense with regards to its taste but very rich and full of flavours.
While the bread looks like it is not too appealing to eat, it actually is – especially the inner part which is soaked with the soup is absolutely yummy!
Secondly, the “hand-made dumplings from old country recipe” (29 PLN) in the “mix selection” was rich but tastes somehow really just like tortellini …
… but with the rather intense tasting mushroom sauce, it becomes a very sound dish!
The place is simple but very nice – not really due to the selection of chairs and tables or the like but much more because of the location where you get to enjoy your life in the sun. What you have to bring when you come here is one thing: patience! The service is very friendly but also incredibly slow and unattentive. If you have the patience, it is the perfect place – if you don’t or just look for a very quick snack, then you should go somewhere else.
