29. April 2015: Exclusive topbonus Platinum Event @ Restaurant Gustav

| July 5, 2015 | 0 Comments

I was invited to the “Exclusive topbonus Platinum Event” at the newly opened Restaurant Gustav in Frankfurt. And it was a night to remember! The “amuse gueule” was refreshing and preparing your palate for the upcoming courses!

First, there was some “bread & spread” served – the bread was good. I did not manage to try the spread, unfortunately.

While the first courses left a good impression I must say it got better soon after. The “asparagus, chicken egg, citrus, brown butter” with a “2012, Riesling, “Junge Reben”, August Kesseler, Rheingau” was lovely. The combination of the gluey liquidity of the chicken egg with the acidity of the citrus and the intense taste of the butter was a great combination of textures and flavours.

The next course was a “trout from the Taunus, kohlrabi, vinegar reduction, fennel”, served with a “2012, Timotheus, Gut Oggau, Neusiedlersee” which was great in taste. The caviar supported the sensation of having something with a different texture in your mouth perfectly.

The main course was “beef from Vogelsberg, chick peas, satée”, served with a “2012, Vacqueyras Prestige, Font Sarade, Rhône”. The beef was tender and smooth while providing an intense and lovely aroma. The purrée was great and the cheek was very flavourful! The chick peas as a side dish component were new to me but absolutely lovely (being a huge fan of hummus, not so surprisingly though).

The last course of the evening was “rhubarb, milk chocolate, ginger, basil”, served with a “2012, Muskateller Auslese, Erlenwein, Pfalz”. The dessert was interesting due to the combination of various flavours and textures and definitely a sound ending to the evening!

As a last element marshmallows were served – not necessary in my point of view but definitely a lovely gesture to create something like a “friandises moment”. The place is very atmospheric and even has a small patio where you can enjoy a drink before having dinner.

The service is very attentive, dedicated, friendly, and does an outstanding job. It might have been triggered to some degree by the fact that the event was sponsored by AirBerlin, Etihad, and Alitalia but they definitely did an outstanding job! All in all, I must admit that the visit at the Restaurant Gustva was a very pleasant one! The place is great, the service is outstanding, and the dishes are superb! Definitely worth going – I assume, booking a table in advance is usually a necessity!
