27. May 2015: Welschanschauung: Wine & Sausage

| July 27, 2015 | 0 Comments

I only randomly got to know about this event – and while I was definitely a bit sceptical how people would come up with the idea to pair wine and sausages, I must admit that the event was great. For CHF 65.00 you had the chance to taste the combination of six wines in combination with six different sausages.

The first pairing was rather standard – a glass of “Domaine de Beudon, Mario et Jacques Granges, Fully, Valais” (http://www.beudon.ch) in combination with “Salametti de racines rouges (beetroot), Salaisons d’Anniviers, Vissoie” (http://www.salaisons-anniviers.ch) was rather uninspirational. However, the beetroot which was to be found in the sausage gave away a glimpse of what could be.

The second pairing was a glass of “Christian Rossel, Hauterive (Neuchâtel)” in combination with “Saucisse d’Ajoie: Boucherie Neuenschwander, Stéphane Chappuis, Courgenay (Jura)” (http://www.boucherie-neuenschwander.ch) which was already a bit more refreshing.

My personal highlight was the third pairing – a glass of “Javet & Javet, Lugnorre (Fribourg)” (http://www.vidonne.ch). The Longeôle is a very fatty, heavy sausage which is probably not to everybody’s liking but in combination with the wine it was absolutely delicious!

Fourth in line was a glass of “Stéphane Gros, Dardagny” (http://www.stephane-gros.ch) with “Saucisse sèche à la borne, Boucherie Deillons, Romont” (http://www.boucherie-deillon.ch). The fifth, a glass of “(Plant Robert), Henri & Vincent Chollet, Domaine Mermetus, Aran-Villette” (http://www.mermetus.ch with “Boutefas: Boucherie Devallone, Lucens” (http://www.boucherie-devallonne.ch) and the sixth, a glass of “(Cabarnet Jura), Domaine Blattner, Valentin et Sylvia, Soyhières” with “Chorizo, Frères Alcala, Vaumarcus” (http://www.jural.ch.

Overall, the idea is lovely and I will definitely attend such an event again – and can only recommend you to do so for yourself. Not only because the combination of sausage and wine is a quite interesting one but also because the location is lovely and the hosts do a great job.
