10. June 2015: Restaurant Don Leone Waffenplatz
We had ordered a small plate of “starters” which turned out to be a rather large and generous plate of cheese and cold cuts. The “degustation of salami and cheese” (CHF 17.50 per person) was a nice selection of various cheeses and cold cuts and the plate for two is definitely more than enough for three or four people.
The “Filetto di Manzo alla Griglia served with vegetables” (CHF 49.50) was a bit of a disappointment though. The meat lacked taste and the grill aftertaste was also a bit dissatisfying. The vegetables did not really taste like anything – I was frankly disappointed, especially given the price of the dish.
The service is doing a good job and is very friendly but is somehow not too attentive when the majority of the guests sits inside while you sit outside. The prices – besides for the main course – are fair, i.e. a “Birra Moretti, 0,33L” accounts for CHF 5.50, a double espresso as well. The atmosphere inside is quite appealing and while it is nice to sit outside, I must admit that the atmosphere is not really that great, especially as the restaurant is located right next to the street. Overall, the experience at the Restaurant Don Leone Waffenplatz is quite average, not really a place I would end up so soon again!
