30. June 2015: Helsingin Jäätelötehdas Gelateria
When making the sightseeing tour by bus, there was this little ice cream joint mentioned which was founded by Italians approximately four or so generations ago and is still family-run and is supposedly the best ice cream in Helsinki. When passing one of the joints I decided to try three different flavours, especially the ones I have never tried before so I went for “Licorice, Maraschino, and Blueberry” (EUR 7.00).
Funny enough, as you can see from the picture the portion I got was EPIC! I mean, I have never had so much ice cream. I originally wanted four different flavours and asked them if it was possible to get four flavours but less of each. And they denied – it was not possible. I mean, I have no clue about physics and economics but how the hell does it not work respectively why would you not do it giving a customer less icecream for the same amount of money, just more flavours – especially when he asks for it. However, it was the largest portion of ice cream I have ever had – and I even had to throw it away as it was way too much!
With regards to the quality of the ice cream I must admit that the licorice was definitely something unique I have never tried before in the form of icecream. It is worth trying but be aware to ask for the supertiniest portion there is as else you will be feeling ill easily. Overall, worth trying, just be careful with regards to the amount which is served.
