4. July 2015: Black Magic Bar
The Black Magic Bar is a place you pass by and don’t really enter – but as the tour guide also showed this bar in particular, I decided to go there and try the local special called “Riga Black Balsam, 0,5dl” (EUR 4.50). It is a special drink which is made of 24 ingredients and is really just a herb schnaps. Intense but good. When you visit Riga, you definitely have to try the Balsam!
These are the 24 ingredienst which are allegedly used in the preparation of the Balsam. The place is somehow atmospheric, not really black magic atmospheric, but very atmospheric so it is also worth a visit even if you do not have a Balsam (but you really should).
The service is quick and attentive – besides in the very moment when I wanted to give her tip, then she was not paying attention at all – and I had to wait to give her tip. Which is kind of weird, but anyway. However, if you make it to Riga, try the Balsam, and there is definitely no better place than trying it in the Black Magic Bar!
