4. September 2015: Restaurant Casino El Camino
The Restaurant Casino El Camino is among the best burger places in the US according to BusinessInsider UK, and I must admit that I understand why. But first things first. I passed by the place twice before I actually entered as it looks very run down from the outside and you don’t really feel like walking in there. However, I definitely wanted to try these burgers so I went anyway.
I went for “The Amarillo Burger (roasted serrano chiles, jalapeno jack cheese and cilantro mayonnaise)” (USD 8.50) with “On the Side Fries (A side order of fries with any burger, sandwich or hot dog order)” (USD 1.75). And I must say the burger was very yummy indeed. Also quite spicy given the chiles and jalapenos but very juicy and yummy meat and nicely grilled buns.
With regards to the place I must admit it is atmospheric while somehow seeming to be run down quite a bit. The music is superloud so it is difficult to hold a conversation but that is not why you are here anyway but much more because of the food. The service is friendly, the chef behind the grill is quite funny as you have to place your order with him and he then yells your name over the loudspeakers … in very funny ways.
Overall, if you make it to Austin, you should definitely pay the Restaurant Casino El Camino a visit.
