6. September 2015: Restaurant Landmark @ Sheraton Austin

| November 30, 2015 | 0 Comments

I am not sure what to write about the Restaurant Landmark in the Sheraton Austin. I am really torn between two extremes. When I called the reception to ask until when breakfast was served, I was informed that they serve it till midday. When I walked there 11:30am I was informed that the breakfast buffet was only available until 11:00am.

So, obviously, I was not really happy about that but decided to order the “American Breakfast, Scrambled eggs, bacon, wheat toast” (USD 14.00) …

… which was absolutely okay. Far from really tasty but it was okay. The atmosphere is also rather, let’s say “limited”. It is really like one of these American restaurants where you feel like “what the …?” as a European.

However, with regards to the service, I was positively surprised. The waiter was of Mexican heritage and was superfriendly and helpful, definitely doing a great job which I cannot say about the staff which “greeted” me when entering the restaurant.

When I checked out, I mentioned that I had the issue about the time with the front reception staff and they acted professionally, taking the breakfast off the bill. So, that’s what I’m saying – some people were super competent, others absolutely not. The atmosphere is really not why you should go there. The food is okay, but not really to be recommended. Therefore, if you stay there and breakfast is included, go for it. But make sure to be sure when the place actually offers breakfast. Else, absolutely do not go there!
