11. September 2015: Restaurant Tårnet

| December 5, 2015 | 0 Comments

I had been recommended the Restaurant Tårnet the previous evening by a friend who’s recently been there. And I must admit that it was a good recommendation. The Smørrebrød is absolutely delicious. I always consider it something really simple and while it is simple in its composition they were actually great. I went for the “Lunch Special (2 open sandwiches, chef choice, 1 glass of beer, tea with Oialla chocolate)” (DKK 275) and chose the “pickled herring (juniper marinated herring from thy with cured pork cheek, smoked cream cheese, radishes and soft-boiled quail egg)” and the “shooting star (the tower’s shooting star with fried and poached plaice fillets, pickled white asparagus and whitefish roe)”. If you have never tried Smørrebrød I can absolutely recommend you to pay the Restaurant Tårnet a visit.

As my company had the beef tartare, I did not try it, but I consider the composition and decoration of the dish rather unique (at least I haven’t seen it so far) – and it just looked absolutely yummy!

But the Tårnet is not only worth a visit because of the Smørrebrød but also because of its location. The restaurant is located on the top floor of a tower …

… from which you have a marvelous view over Copenhagen, or at least parts of it.

The place is atmospheric, the view is good, the dishes are tasty, the prices are okay, and last but not least, the service does a good job and it only takes a couple of minutes until your drinks arrive at the table. To sum it up, if you are in Copenhagen, you should definitely pay the Tårnet a visit.
