22. October 2015: Restaurant Bento Boutique
The Bento Boutique belongs to the best sushi restaurants of Frankfurt – according to TripAdvisor. And while so far I have barely ever been disappointed by the TripAdvisor recommendations I must admit that I do not fully agree this time.
While the “Edamame (cooked green soy beans)” (EUR 3.50) were generally tasty, they lacked a bit of salt.
The “Bento 12 (6x salmon, tuna and prawn nigiri, 6x spicy tuna maki and 4x California inside out)” (EUR 14.90) is a great bargain. I mean, you would easily pay double or triple in Zurich. However, even if it is a great bargain I must admit that the fish was not as great as I had expected.
The “fresh ginger tea” (EUR 2.90) on the other hand was great again. The place is very tiny and for the fact that it is that tiny, it is also rather atmospheric. The service does a good job – especially given the fact that everything is located downstairs and basically all the tables are on the upper floor.
All in all, the Bento Boutique is a fair place where you get a good product for a fair price. But the best sushi in town? Not sure about that. Matsuri was – personally speaking – better.
