1. November 2015: Le Petit Café
Le Petit Café already looks very appealing from the outside – like a small French street cafe – and this is also reflected in the audience that is sitting outside. They have a special selection of coffees and I obviously had to try a “special” one – the “Barley Coffee with Milk” (EUR 2.00) was of unique flavour. While definitely being interesting it has its very distinct flavour I am not sure I would enjoy so soon again.
As what you mostly get at Le Petit Café is breakfast, I tried to have the least breakfast-y dish on the menu and went for the “Royal Sandwich (roast beef, parmesan, dried tomato, rocket salad, mustard spread)” (EUR 5.20) which was a bit dry but mouth-watering when it comes the meat.
The place is rather artsy as there are a ton of different small pictures and paintings on the walls which create an atmosphere of a place which would provide shelter to artists while there are actually just women with children and young couples there. The waiter is definitely a hipster and while he is friendly he is also a bit forgetful and you have to be patient. The prices on the other hand are more than fair which is true for the above-mentioned but also for the mineral water (0,5L, EUR 2.60) and the “fresh orange juice with passion fruit” (EUR 4.50).
Overall, Le Petit Café is definitely a small gem which is perfect to have breakfast – and during the summer months to sit outside and enjoy the sun.
